About InkyBooks

This blog is no longer being updated. It will remain un-updated indefinitely.

I started this blog to review books and talk about them with other people. Because of my heavy school load, posts will be sporadic and unreliable. I will post a review every time I finish a book.

In my reviews, I try my best to be spoiler free, and give warnings when it can’t be avoided. If you plan on reading a book series and I’ve reviewed more than just the first book, I recommend that you avoid reading any reviews or summaries of the later books; they can/will contain spoilers!

I respect the opinions of my other book lovers, even if they don’t feel the same way that I do about a book. All I ask is for respectful comments. I might reply and be willing to discuss why you feel differently than I do, and you bringing up something that could change my mind!

I have my own system for giving books stars, and I’ll give a bit explanation about what each means.

★ – I hated it or didn’t finish it
★★ – I finished but didn’t like it
★★★ – It kept my interest; basically meaning that I  liked it and it entertained me long enough to finish but that I probably wouldn’t read again (I will reread for book series, however)
★★★★ – Will read again; it was a good book and will read again if I get a chance
★★★★★ – I loved it!

I tend to read more young adult fantasy novels, but some of my favorites are just regular fiction too! I’m willing to try to read any genre of book and more than happy to talk to anyone about them.

All Book covers found on this blog are from Goodreads unless noted otherwise. I have also decided that if I want to post spoilers it will be on Goodreads because I can hide them in my review! There, you might also get to see how many stars I give a book before my review is posted.

Also, feel free to add me as a friend on Goodreads, there is a link in the sidebar!

At the top of every page I added an Updates widget. There you can see the books I’m reading and what book review is coming up. Also I’ll add the date I will hopefully be posting the review on.

Feel free to comment or contact me here. I’m always looking for more books to add to my to-read list so please leave your book recommendations too!

  1. I guess my biggest question is what’s your major? English? Are you an undergrad There’s a couple of novels I’d love to hear your thoughts on. I’m not into fantasy books but there is some great nonfiction out there. This is rather old (a couple years) but The Gin Closet by Leslie Jamison and a newer one is The Orchard of Lost Souls by Nadifa Mohamed. They’ve just been recommended to me so I wrote them down. Sorry I didn’t find you links or anything. Excited about your blog ad about to hit “Follow”:)

    • Thanks for taking a look! My major is actually either Respiratory Care or Radiation Therapy. I’m still taking my pre-requeists so if I get into both programs I’ll probably go with Radiation therapy, I’ll be sure to add that on my about me post! I’ll look at both the books you suggested and add them to my to-read list! Thanks for your recimendation, and thanks for following!

      • Of course! And you threw me off guard with your major. Try looking at my blog sometime and not at my profile and guessing what my major was (both undergrad and then doctoral). See if you’re as off as I was. I bet you won’t be!:)

      • I know, it seems really odd that I am going into the medical field, though it’s mostly for practicallity. I’m going to guess you’re some kind of political major, though I’m really bad at guessing!

    • I’m just about to finish reading the Red Queen, only about 15 pages left. After that I’ll be leaving in to An Ember in the Ashes. If you haven’t read Red Queen it’s very good, almost as good as the Throne of Glass and the second book comes out Feburary 9th.
